Reaching the Generations

If you look throughout churches around the world, you will notice a common thread: the young people are either attending just to please a parent or are missing all together. In most cases, they want nothing to do with God...or at least the God they find portrayed in our churches. It's these younger genearations that are some of the hardest to reach.

That's where Covenant Groups International comes in. CGI is a multi-denominational ministry that exists to empower and equip student and church leaders to reach the upcoming generations for Christ. From our start in 2002 as a single small group bible study at Monmouth College, we have expanded our vision and ministry influence to include coaching, training and resourcing churches and leaders to reach youth, young adults and university students around the world for Christ.

Since our primary focus at CGI is to train and equip leaders, we spend the majority of our time on coaching, training and resourcing leaders to not only be better at what they do, but to expand their vision and their view of ministry. This is accomplished in a number of ways: from providing direct oversight where CGI comes in and helps develop the vision and missiology of a ministry, to partnering relationships where we provide coaching and consultation to help the ministry grow to the next level. We know that leadership development is the key to reaching the youth, young adults and university students for Christ. Our belief is that if you impact the leaders, they will in turn have a greater vision and ability to impact the upcoming generations for Christ.

Sharing Our Stories...

Micah is a Junior Classics major from Rockford, IL. This is his story:

Upon arriving at the Monmouth campus I experienced some of the most oppressive and painful feelings of isolation and absolute solitude than I had ever dreamed it was possible to feel. I thought about my community college experience, upon the standing alone for the person and truth of Christ in the classrooms, upon the standing for the purity and virtue that I knew God wanted for me as His young man, and it appeared as if I was about to face it all again. I desperately cried out in my loneliness and, like He heard David, He heard me “But in my distress I cried out to the Lord; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from His sanctuary; my cry reached His ears” Psalm 18:5. God has given me the opportunity to be in Covenant Groups and to see that I am not alone...
